Formula and polar bear. Italian show surprises

The Italian team Luci di Notte prepared a chilling show for the audience with an unusual and memorable soundtrack. The name of the show and its main idea were inspired by the punk song Fire Water Burn, which, however, was not played in the pyromusical. “It's not a fireworks song, so we didn't use it. For me, it's more of an expression of the approach we took when creating the show,” explained designer Renzo Cargnelutti.

The Italian dazzling spectacle was unusual in many ways. Cargnelutti made full use of the space on the lake – from effects on the water surface or near the pontoon to colourful rain falling from the sky.

For Billie Eilish's husky vocals, the pyrotechnicians relied not only on perfect synchronisation but also on dramatic effects. During the obligatory song The Race, Formula cars raced across the surface of the water to the whirring of wheels, and at the beginning of the French cover version of the 1980s hit Eisbär, the surface of the lake looked as if polar bear cubs were playing on it.

Cargnelutti wanted to evoke emotions in the audience: “When you choose music for a show, you can use something that everyone knows and loves, such as ABBA or the Beatles. It's easy for the creators: everyone is in a good mood, singing and dancing, and everyone likes the show, but it's never anything special.”

Judging by the audience's reactions, he succeeded in this task. “We really liked the fireworks and the music. We were most impressed by the formula cars above the water, then the part with the song Faded and, of course, the finale,” said Marcela Jiříkovská, who watched the fireworks with her family.

The pyromusical also caught the attention of Mr and Mrs Chovan: “We go to Ignis regularly and we really enjoyed the Italian fireworks, they were perfectly synchronised with the music. We also liked the big effects.” The Italian team didn't skimp on the large shells, literally filling the sky with them at the end.

The fireworks are evaluated by a professional jury. Spectators can also vote on the Facebook pages of Radio Krokodýl and Ignis Brunensis. For some viewers, the Italian fireworks have already won: “The best fireworks display I've ever seen,” commented Renáta Zemešová.

The provocative pyromusical will be followed on Saturday by a drone show Centuries of Discoveries, created in collaboration with artificial intelligence, and the Polish Pyro Race, where the whole story unfolds from the obligatory melody and motorsport theme.
