Italian team won the main award
Ignis Brunensis knows the winners of the 28th annual competition. They were selected by a 15-member expert jury composed of specialists in various artistic fields. “The jury did not have an easy task, as all the shows were very evenly matched. The differences were really minimal. Since these are artistic fireworks, each one must have its own plot and story, and its overall artistic value is also evaluated, not just the technical part,” added Jiří Morávek, CEO of SNIP & CO, the producent of Ignis Brunensis festival.
The main prize went to the Italian company Luci di Notte, led by designer Renzo Cargnelutti. For this year's edition, they prepared a provocative show called Fire Water Burn with an unconventional soundtrack.
"I am very pleased that the jury appreciated our show. I hope the audience liked it too, we'll see at the People’s choice ceremony. Everything went well for us, even technically, there were no hiccups, and we were lucky with the weather. It was a bit on an edge and we were afraid that the wind would blow in the wrong direction, but in the end, everything turned out perfectly,” Cargnelutti said. He revealed that he has a busy summer ahead of him: “After Ignis, we're going to Cannes, where we're preparing a project in collaboration with a Swedish and Japanese company, and then we'll be preparing effects for a stage tour in Germany.”
The Czech radio prize "Music amidst the fires" went to the Polish company Surex. The award has been presented since 1998, and music experts, who make up half of the jury, have the final say.
Special prize by the Mayor of Brno for the design of the compulsory music part was also won by Surex. This year's melody, The Race by Yello, was a nod to the return of MotoGP to Brno after five years.
“We are very happy to have won the award for music and for the compulsory part, and we are still curious to see who will win the People’s choice awards. We are very pleased with our victory because every show this year was great. We are very happy to be able to work with the Ignis team and with Flash Barrandov SFX. We love coming back to Brno, everyone here is so friendly,” commented Jaroslaw Suzdalewicz from SUREX.
The 29th Ignis Brunensis international fireworks festival will kick off with the opening show on 30 May 2026 at the areál Hněvkovského. The competition part of the festival will begin on Saturday, 13 June 2026. Spectators can look forward to five fireworks displays and two drone shows.
