Fireworks celebrating Brno Exhibition Centre’s 95th anniversary brought good mood and swing music to Špilberk

Brno – The opening show of Ignis Brunensis 2023 directed by IGNIS BRUNENSIS TEAM and Flash Barrandov SFX shone over Špilberk Castle on Saturday 27 May. The fireworkers dedicated the roughly 10-minute fiery musical, called "In a good mood", to the Brno Exhibition Centre and its 95th anniversary.

A hall filled with live music and a room swirling with colourful dresses and buzzing with fun – the fireworkers managed to transfer this very image to the night sky. The sky resembled a dance floor for the pyro effects, with multiple colours dancing to the rhythm of jazz and swing. Although the firework, directed by Czech team, began (quite fittingly) in Czechoslovakian colours, the sky above Špilberk soon lit up with all the colours of the rainbow and with choreography that was straightforwardly danceable.

"Ninety-five years ago, the history of the Brno Exhibition Centre was forged. Our fireworks display was meant to recall the atmosphere of the time, which was the 1920s. That is why we created a show in the rhythm of jazz and characteristic swing," explained Jaroslav Štolba, the designer of the show.

Their choice was appreciated by the audience. "Especially in the first half, I liked the combination of energetic swing music, which fitted well with the fireworks and colourful effects," commented Jaroslav Válek on his experience.

Anna Kašparová appreciated the visual aspect. "I feel that it was one of the most colourful fireworks displays I have seen outside the Brno lake, it complemented today's event at the exhibition grounds nicely."

The fireworks were a part of the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the Brno Exhibition Centre. The next fireworks show will take place on Saturday 10 June above the lake in Brno dam lake, again directed by Flash Barrandov SFX and with Jaroslav Štolba as the lead designer. Before the fireworks, the spectators will also be able to enjoy a drone show, during which 200 drones will take off over the water area.
