"Tribute to the Brave Defenders"

The opening show of the 28th IGNIS BRUNENSIS festival dedicated to the 380th anniversary of the successful defence of Brno against the Swedish troops, in three acts. 

Act One, ‘Siege of the City’. It's another day of siege, fiery tails flying through the air. The ubiquitous yellows and blues of the attacking Swedes mingle with the silver flashes of cannon fire. The rest of the brave defenders are running out of strength, they can no longer resist the Swedish superiority. Act Two, ‘The Bells’: And suddenly, after three months, silence. Only the sound of the bells from Petrov breaks the silence. A little ruse by the defenders of the city to sound the noon bell an hour early, according to legend. Act Three, ‘The Castle Celebration’: the feeling of tiredness and relief alternates with the feeling of joy and pride of the defenders of Brno. The colourful celebration of the rescue of the city culminates in a golden rain of memories of those who did not see the happy ending. A tribute to the brave defenders of Brno.
